Thinking of You

Jer 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

What are they thinking about you? What was your impression on them? Did they like your hair or did they think you were a dork? Surely after all the time spent on the hairdo, the makeup and the clothes it was worth it and they thought you were something else? While all this time is given to wondering what that person thought about you, however, they are rarely spending much time at all thinking about you as their thoughts are spent on wondering what you’re thinking about them. So often the concern about other’s thoughts is in vein because they are themselves overly taken with worry over your thoughts of them. It is a special person indeed that is able to remove their focus from self wonder to sincere and positive thoughts about those they encounter, and it is particularly special when they possess an ability to do something about those thoughts.

In our encounter with God, there is an assurance for the thought-wonderer that He is not ill-impressed with our appearance, our behavior or our performance. Whether or not we’re having a bad hair day or just got up on the wrong side of the bed and whether we have fallen terribly or succeeded in a great way, His thoughts are continually for our good and our betterment. He’s not insecure in the least about our impression of Him so His thoughts are completely freed to not only see incredible possibilities for us, but to actually plan for their fulfillment in our life. With Him the wondering can be totally eliminated and great confidence can be increasingly gained in a God who will never draw back from us or withhold blessing. He only sees and expects the best.

With the wondering gone about His thoughts towards us we can also be freed to dwell on His incredible goodness. Instead of being held in self-consciousness we can become God conscious with an overwhelming hope for an eternal future with the One who only desires the best for us. As His thoughts are focused on our fulfilled purpose, so our thoughts can be established upon the security that is founded upon the Rock of our salvation. Dark thoughts are lost in the light of His love as His freedom leads to a completed destiny of peace.
