Gift of Wisdom’s Spirit
Ephesians 1:17 KJV
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Ok, what’s the best thing you ever got as a gift? What made it to the top of your list as the all time best present ever? Was it a Wii, a bicycle, car, house, or maybe just a card from someone who meant a lot to you? When it comes to a gift, content is so very important, but also where it came from and relationship to the one who gave it are significant. In fact, something quite cool from the wrong person, can make appreciation for it wane greatly, no matter how wonderful or expensive that thing might be, while the simplest item from a person dear to your heart will cause you to cherish, preserve and care for that thing.
More than just a technical toy or any creation of man, there is something waiting in our box this morning that has come special delivery by the Giver Himself. It’s not just something He’s made in His creation shop, either. While it may seem at first look to be less than inspiring, the closer you get to the Giver, the more you realize that this is really a part of Himself He’s giving. This is His very nature and character that He’s gifted to us through Jesus, and there has never been a greater value poured into a gift in the way of relationship. It’s the same thing Solomon put at the top of his wish list, and because of this elevated priority, no other thing was held back from God’s glory being seen through him.
May this same spirit of wisdom and revelation be a received gift in us today as we continue to be filled with the knowledge of Him. The experience of His glory will bring peace, joy, provision and direction.
