Secret Thunder
(Psalms 81:7) Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me- ’secret place of thunder’. It’s normally tough to keep thunder a secret.
There is, though, a rumbling to the spirit and a thundering to the heart coming from an incredibly overwhelming circumstance that will threaten to totally disrupt our lives with lack, depression, fear, and worry. The loss of employment or the severing of relationships can create quite a stir with the promise of an impending downpour of associated difficulties. It is precisely in these moments of house trembling declarations from the sky around us that the secret place becomes the most essential place of refuge to us. Though the sound of a war’s explosions are coming from a growing devastation all around us, our escape into the place by our Father’s side renders the storm’s voice mute, and we are set free to operate uninhibited by the attempted constraints of its commands. God has already established His faithfulness in these times. He has, through every challenge to those in His keeping, taken them from a trembling stance to one of great confidence and boldness as a result of His secret place found in the middle of the thunderstorm. This will just be another one for inclusion in His list of praises. This will be another preservation by His presence and comfort by His glory, proving once again the very being that, while possibly removed from our natural vision, is more than ready to surround us with an impenetrable wall of peace.
(Isaiah 26:3) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
