Discovery
Eze 38:17 “‘A Message of GOD, the Master: Years ago when I spoke through my servants, the prophets of Israel, wasn’t it you I was talking about? Year after year they prophesied that I would bring you against them.
Have you ever wondered what it was like when Jesus fully realized who He was and what His role on this earth would be? There must have been a sense from the start that He was destined for something extraordinary, something significant, and something world changing, considering the nature of His birth and the location of His first few years. However, there must have been a moment at which the scriptures that were a part of His daily life pointed directly at Him and He realized that all that talk about a coming Messiah had been about Him. By the age of twelve He was already obsessed with ‘being about His Father’s business’, but had He fully realized yet what that business entailed and where it would take Him? What, I wonder, began to change regarding His choices and the life decisions that would form the plans for His days? I believe it was most essential that this discovery was made, whether it was told Him by His parents or an angel, or whether it came to Him by the Spirit in His own times of study, words spoken of Him long ago opened up His eyes and vision to the incredible destiny that was His. By accepting their description as His identity in His daily life, He would move steadily towards the role for which He was designed long before the worlds came to existence.
Whether we’ve been born into poverty and lack or blessed with a silver spoon in our mouth, there is something significant that’s been foretold about us, each one. There will only be one Jesus, one Savior of the world, but because of His faithfulness to fulfill His role, the way has been made for each one of us to make the same discovery He made- who we really are and the magnitude of our potential based upon words that have been spoken- about us. For us to ever really know or be able to live our potential and play our part in the kingdom, the acceptance of an incredible reality will have to be made- that God has really been talking about us many times and over a long period of time. There is this essential part that needs to be played by each of us in defeating our enemy and bringing freedom and deliverance to many that are bound in darkness. However, until it is known that God was talking about us specifically when He said we would be established in righteousness, overcoming in everything, free from sickness and lack, His own children, anointed, free from sin and its death, and chosen for effective service in His kingdom, it won’t be possible to ever fulfill our part and live the life for which we were designed.
Way more than just an incredible literary compilation, the Bible is the written declaration of God’s words about us. Each of His statements that’s accepted and embraced has power to completely transform our lives as we become conformed to the image of Jesus. We, too, will be able to say, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. “ (Luke 4:18-19) I’m so glad Jesus came to know who He was and walked the walk of what had been spoken of Him. I’m sure it will bring the greatest joy to His heart when we make the same discovery and begin taking the path to our divine destiny. His purpose will be further completed through us.
1 John 4:17b… as He is, so are we in this world.
