Movies

Eze 7:25  Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

They had these very troubling movies they used to show back in shop class and driver’s ed. You know, the one with the guy losing some fingers to a table saw or catching his tie in the drill press; or the gruesome pictures of some kids that had wrapped their car around a telephone pole? Just thinking about those scenes even now has an impact on me, and yet, from time to time, I find myself in less than full compliance with the safety guidelines that would eliminate the possibility of these things ever happening. It may be, though, that because of those images specifically, I’ve avoided many potentially disastrous situations. Despite the extent to which effort was given, though, to prevent severe physical damage, there have definitely been others who also viewed them and still lost limbs and life to the tragedy that is surely waiting for a life of disregarded warnings. If the warnings will only be taken to heart in fear and reverence, though, there is great promise of life.

Some would scoff and make light of the warnings given to us through the Word from the One who knows the end from the beginning. All through the Bible there are numerous little “movies” portraying the end of the unrighteous life. These productions have been shown all over the world as many have read and heard the Gospel of salvation and the way of safety in Christ. Though an incredibly large mass people have been there while the pictures were painted through words of prophecy, there still tends to be way too many, figuratively speaking, ‘drunken drivers’ and those destined for lost fingers and much more from not accepting the way of safety in Christ. So many have chosen another God, both in name and in lifestyle, that will not be able to bring the peace and refuge at the time when the world is falling in around them.

It is a sobering consideration, the righteous judgments of a good and holy God, who will not allow darkness and sin to prevail, pervert, and corrupt His creation and fellowship with the ones who have chosen Him. There are other movies He’s also shown, though, that depict the way of refuge in Him, that way to ultimate retirement in a real paradise. It’s possible to make it down all those roads and endless shop hours without destruction to the soul if His holy way will only be followed. Though destruction and death come to completely annihilate all that surrounds us, we have an escape to peace that passes all comprehension.  With hearts turned towards Him, embracing the message of the ‘warning movies’ and entering the fortress of impenetrable safety in Him, we’ll weather any storm and move right past the accident scenes to our promised destination of Heaven with Him.

For true worship to take place in a lifestyle, there will be an embrace of the movies’ messages of warning and promise. Letting the impact of the warnings adjust choices in behavior will make the way for entrance into the realm of glory where God is magnified in all we say and do. May hearts be stirred and turned to the promise of life, where every moment reflects an awareness of His presence, unobstructed by walls of guilt and violated warnings. May the true joy and strength of His presence overwhelm all threats of destruction and the very God of peace keep our hearts and minds in the refuge of His love.

1Th 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Hi Stephen,
…wanted to tell you that we have been enjoying your fresh bread from heaven. You have some inspiring ingredients for the makings of your bread. Good eating. You Are an accomplished guitarist and you Are a great man on God. How blessed we are to have you as our son. Also, the one this morning on “Movies” was great!

Tis’ a snowy day but we enjoy staying at home with the cheery fire in our fireplace giving forth warmth for the day. Actually it has been burning since about 3:30 this morning when your Dad got up for the first time. He is experiencing the healing of a head cold! I’m fixing him some chicken and noodles which will surely help the healing process.

We want you to be assured that you and yours are in our hearts and in our prayers along with your siblings. Our Father is so faithful to hear and respond to our heartfelt, continued prayers.

    Love you much, Mom
