Trust Pro 16:33 Make your motions and cast your votes, but GOD has the final say. Halfway through a transcontinental flight of many hours, it became evident to one of the passengers that it was very unrealistic to put so much trust in the plane that had already been carrying them for so long. After all, to anyone of a higher, enlightened intellect it was obvious to look about through the cabin and notice that life was going on completely separate from any dependence upon the airplane's influence. Preparing an eloquent presentation of this "irrefutable" concept, it began to be spread throughout the rest of the plane and a vote was finally taken to declare complete independence from any association with the airplanes existence whatsoever. They declared that they no longer trusted in the airplane. In a similar case, a near relative of the airplane's "enlightened one", while traveling to the Colorado Mountains, noticed that there was an undesirable affect that came over him when the top of a mountain pass was reached. He became a bit light headed and queasy in his stomach and came close to passing out. Intrigued by this detraction from the beautiful experience of the high elevation, he delved into the reason for this phenomenon. Upon discovering that it was altitude sickness, due to the lower levels of oxygen, he came to the conclusion that it was high time that he separated himself from the need for oxygen. No longer would the effects of high altitude, or for that matter, oxygen's requirement when under water, overcome him. After all, if you really thought about it, oxygen couldn't be all that necessary- you can't see it or feel it. From his "elevated" position of ascended thought, he confidently declared that he no longer trusted in oxygen. It would seem that these stories could never take place, and that no one could ever be that void of logic or common sense. And yet, there are many that choose to take a very similar path in denying their dependence upon their Creator. Whether or not it is acknowledged, whether or not it is seen and embraced, there is a trust in God the world over that is inevitable and without option. It is so completely ludicrous to actively pursue the elimination of this trust from any written or verbal statements. While extensive speeches are made and discussions held proposing the need for independence from any divine associations, their words couldn't even be spoken or written without a basic trust in what God has provided in the physical body and the physics involved in sound production. In the trip of life that is taking us to a world beyond, the only thing separating us from a long fall and the extreme conditions just beyond what may be seen is a God that upholds everything by His mercy and incredible grace. Only the breath that has come from our Creator sustains life itself, and a few moments without it would mean the journey's end. Recognized or not, there will never be a thought formed, a move made, a breath taken, a sight seen, or a touch felt without an incredible trust and dependence upon the One who has always been and will ever continue to be- God. It is so mindless for the creation to disown the Creator. How free of true brain activity the thought process that leads away from the obvious- that a much higher power is involved in anything of substance and true purpose. It is His involvement that makes nations and people great. It is Him alone that truly saves, delivers, and protects. We are completely nothing without Him. Why pretend not to trust Him? Besides, it can be so sweet and incredibly rewarding to do so. May I trust Him in more ways and with more heart even this day. Take me there. 10/29/05
