The Wall- Part 1 Zec 9:8 "I will set up camp in my home country and defend it against invaders. Nobody is going to hurt my people ever again. I'm keeping my eye on them. Zec 9:9 "Shout and cheer, Daughter Zion! Raise the roof, Daughter Jerusalem! Your king is coming! a good king who makes all things right, a humble king riding a donkey, a mere colt of a donkey. Isa 59:19 In the west they'll fear the name of GOD, in the east they'll fear the glory of GOD, For he'll arrive like a river in flood stage, whipped to a torrent by the wind of GOD. Isa 59:20 "I'll arrive in Zion as Redeemer, to those in Jacob who leave their sins." GOD's Decree. One of the things that can be identified on earth when looking at it from space is the Great Wall of China. The need to feel secure and protected from an enemy invasion was the motivation to construct this massive wall extending over 4,000 miles across China. While consuming so much time, energy and resources, you would wonder how effective it really was in its purpose. At its most functional time of service, under threat of an invading enemy, was it really able to obstruct his advance and maintain their safety and peace? Supposing that it, indeed, was very functional, it is interesting to consider a scenario in which all of the protective power of the Great Wall would be rendered totally useless. At the very time of the enemy's presence and destructive intentions on the other side of the wall, it would be most necessary that anyone wanting be safe and secure remain on the side opposite of him. However, if, for some reason, the safe ones could be convinced that they should give up their security and let themselves down on the side of the wall with their enemy, all of the great effort to construct this massive barrier would be of no effect whatsoever. For the enemy, the wall would be no problem at all if the people on the other side could just be persuaded to come over to his side where he could deal with them as he chose. As powerful as it may have been in its protective ability, the wall's fulfilled purpose would always require that the people remain within its protection. There has been a great victory won and a great wall of protection constructed in the redemption that is ours in Christ. At one time, there was nothing to separate us from our enemy's destructive schemes and we were completely susceptible to his demands. A massive barrier of righteousness has been constructed by the design and direction of the Great Creator, however, that has forever changed the landscape of our world. In accepting the redemption of our rescuing Conqueror, we have been given the opportunity to go to the side of peace and safety, where security is never breached and our destroyer is rendered powerless. Like the China Wall, however, there is a scenario in which all of the redemptive power in Christ is made to be powerless. If somehow we can be persuaded to let ourselves down on our enemy's side of the wall, there will no longer be any protection for us from his attacks. This would surely seem to be an improbable choice, but it is really the only tactic satan has in getting to us with his attacks, and he is very full of ways to get us to join him on his side. He can never remove the wall that will remain for all of time, but he can still accomplish his purpose by just getting us to leave its protection and go where he is. As this wall of righteousness has been constructed on our behalf, what is its defining element that provides both a barrier from our enemy and an occupation with which we can be eternally absorbed and fulfilled? The side of protection is one that is ever aware of the presence and glory of God. It is a relationship with the Father in which every aspect of living is experienced with a sense of His powerful nearness. Never alone, it is a side where holiness cannot be helped because of adoration for His ever-watchful eye. We are able to live a life of conquering faith, enjoying all of it with joy in His presence. Our wall, then, is really an awareness of, and worship of the Father. Psa 27:4 I'm asking GOD for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long. I'll contemplate his beauty; I'll study at his feet. Psa 27:5 That's the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic. Psa 27:6 God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down. I'm headed for his place to offer anthems that will raise the roof! Already I'm singing God-songs; I'm making music to GOD. 2/23/05
