Stick Around Psa 11:1 A David psalm. I've already run for dear life straight to the arms of GOD. So why would I run away now when you say, "Run to the mountains; Psa 11:2 the evil bows are bent, the wicked arrows Aimed to shoot under cover of darkness at every heart open to God. Whenever you are quite apart from a situation and just observing it in another's case, it can be very easy to discern the right choice for that individual. Watching a movie where someone is being lured by either fear or pleasure from a place of complete safety, you might find yourself yelling at the screen, (or at least wanting to) "Go back! Go back! Can't you see the only safe place for you is right where you are!" You might be able to clearly see the danger lurking just outside the realm of safety and the ambush that is eminent, but quite often the perspective from the participant's view is unclear and skewed by the pressing in of surrounding circumstances. There is a point in our lives when an attack is coming in the form of sickness, lack, discouragement, or failure and there are voices yelling at us to just give up and run away from the refuge we have found in the arms of God. By all apparent circumstances it may appear that injustice has come our way just because of our decision to enter this place. Somehow it may seem that if we just run away, there may be another place that will be more reliable in the mountains where God may have even possibly transferred His residence. Desperation tries to set in with this compelling notion that justice lies elsewhere and any further existence is only possible in a place much more secure than this. At this time it would be so great to completely change our vantage point so that we might clearly see the reality of our situation. Actually, in every choice to remain in the care of our Father, we are really choosing to avert the real realm of danger and injustice: Psa 11:7 GOD's business is putting things right; he loves getting the lines straight, Setting us straight. Once we're standing tall, we can look him straight in the eye. As long as we allow God to do His business we are sure to see His salvation from any and every threat. There can be no doubt that the One who put the whole of creation in its perfect, coordinated motion will surely see us through to total victory and success. He will not allow an injustice to go without correction. This changing of vantage points is something we can experience completely as our worship takes us to a far removed place and we're enabled to discern the reality of our situation, with God much bigger and better than any other option. Remaining in Him becomes our heart- driven choice as we are lifted from a stooped, down-trodden condition to a posture of confidence, where we assume the position for which we were created, standing tall and beholding the glory of our Father with peaceful self-assurance. After having found this wonderful place of refuge, how could we and why would we ever want to depart from these awesome arms of our loving Father? Why not stick around and see His salvation? 3/10/04
