Special Exodus 2:2 The woman became pregnant and had a son. She saw there was something special about him and hid him. She hid him for three months. (The Message)- about Moses It seems that destiny and God's design for a life is recognizable at birth. To me, most babies are quite similar at birth and there really isn't that much to note, which would make it definable that one of them would be distinguished for greatness. I noticed this phrase here, though, and there was much that came from it of value to me. One thing that obviously brought a separation of this child from any other was the one that was beholding and making this distinction. It was his mother that was making the judgment of his greatness even in infancy. It was through the eyes of the one who had gone through incredible labor pains to deliver this child that potential was seen for him as a newborn. If it had been up to another and someone removed from relationship made the judgment, Moses could very well have lived a very short life. There was, however, a connection of conception here. There was a vision for this child that went way beyond infancy to the time of his great leadership. This vision had been nurtured and dreamt about from the moment that news came of his impending arrival. For the mother the sight of this new child was the fulfillment of a promise in her heart that could not be destroyed by the order of his death. She was committed to doing more than just bringing this child into the world; she would do all within her power to insure his transition into manhood. The first thing she did to insure this was to hide him from the sight of those that sought his demise. She made sure that it would not be possible for the hand of his destroyer to wield its evil intent upon her son. The next thing she did was to immediately give him away. She knew that as long as he remained in her possession there would be sure destruction for him. More important to her than possession of the child and his nearness was the preservation of his life with or without her. In giving him away she also was specific in her placement of the basket. She didn't let it be found in the low-income section of the river. She insured that the one who would discover this little child would be someone who would be able to help significantly in the furtherance of this child's destiny. In letting him be found by Pharaoh's daughter, she knew that he would be able to receive a superior education and not be kept from his purpose by ignorance. Upon our birth into the kingdom of God, there is somehow something very special that is seen in us. It may not be observed by anyone else, but gratefully, there is a quality seen by our Father that is worth preserving. Left up to the judgments of people we might not have any hope of survival, but our Creator sees beyond our infancy to the great hope of significance and purpose in our future. While we are breathing the same breath of life in Christ that our kingdom siblings breath, there is something unique about His presence in each one of us that sets us apart and makes us special to our Father. So that we might grow to the fullness of what His plans would be for us, He has arranged for us to be found in a place of abundant provision and knowledge. He knows that the only things that will prevent our full maturity in Him are a lack of care and nutrition, so He has planned a special place in which each one of us might get all we need to survive and prosper. The continuation of our maturity in all that is provided by our Father in Christ is of great importance in that, in becoming all that He desires for us we get to become a part of His provision of life to another special one. The thing that makes us most special to our Father is the position of kingdom purpose that He sees in us. There are manifestations of His glory that will be performed through us, there are revelations of His will and purpose that will be communicated through us, and are songs of deliverance that will be sung through us all with the purpose of leading others out of eternal death to eternal life in Christ. We are special and worth preserving, not to just be a thing of beauty and prestige, but to perform the works of our Master in the land of the needy. There is a lifetime of fulfilling His purpose in us that will come as the presence of Christ in us that made us special in our Father's eyes begins to be seen by all those around us as we live a life of complete worship before Him. 4/1/04
