Refiner's Fire There is a quality and qualifying that takes place in the life of one who is surviving and making it through the removal and burning up of junk in our lives. There is this purity of motive and desire for God that is taking place and equipping the survivor with this incredible ability to believe and to communicate with the Father who takes His place in the vacancy created by their departure. No longer is there an ability in any other presence in our lives to overwhelm us and keep us from our higher purpose in Him. Zec 13:9 I'll deliver the surviving third to the refinery fires. I'll refine them as silver is refined, test them for purity as gold is tested. Then they'll pray to me by name and I'll answer them personally. I'll say, 'That's my people.' They'll say, 'GOD--my God!'" We can be assured that, when we are going through a time of being consumed by great fires fueled by the fodder of straw that is making up the majority of our existence, there is a purpose in this judgement. Going through this time in our life there can be much encouragement in the knowledge that God is working in it to do of His good pleasure. He will use the flames that have been ignited and fueled by our own conduct or self-seeking to bring to prominence the great treasure He has place within our hearts. Though there has existed this wonderful deposit of heavenly wealth inside, it has been concealed beneath the worthless straw of worldly desires and passions. As the fires rage there is a revealing of this gold until it is all that is left and we are actually freed to function and live in its power. We will survive, and the gold that remains after this refinery will be a substance that will be useful in the Master's hand. It is then that our prayers will be effective because they will not be influenced by the deviant motives of misdirected passions. Stripped of any dominance of sin there will only be a driving force of hunger and desire to please and serve the only King of Kings and Lord of Lords. At that point the purpose of this judgement will be realized in wonderful union and fellowship with God in such a way that communication takes place effectively in answered prayer and union of name and purpose. 2/23/04
