Light Mat 5:15 If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Mat 5:16 Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand--shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. It's not possible any more to just hide and sneak around without being noticed. Where we had once done so many things that didn't seem to be all that bad, there is no leeway with them any more. Our composition has changed. There is something we've been made to be and, whether or not we completely realize it, our every choice and action affects the impact of our new existence. As soon as there was an entrance of the Glory of God to the temple of our bodies, we were made to be a carrier of that glory for life. Once the choice was made to make Jesus the Lord of our lives, the light of this Glory began to shine, fueled by the oil of anointing. From that point on our lives gained a purpose in exposing this light to dispel darkness from the world around us. There are many different ways that lights are made. From the incredibly powerful light of an airport that shoots up into the night sky, to the tiny little light that's helping me see my keyboard right now, there is a wide range of designs and power requirements. There is something common about all of them, though, in that, as soon as darkness falls and things are being hidden under the cover of darkness, every light is noticed and becomes effective in unveiling the world around it. Its placement and its covering will influence its brightness and visibility, but, whether or not it is covering a large area due to surrounding obstructions, it is always a light, with darkness removing potential. As long as there is a connection to a power source, there will always be an emission of light. When this light is placed in a position of prominence, high and unobstructed, it will never get a chance to hide and not be noticed again. As the elements of its composition were assembled with its purpose in mind, its function will always be that of a light carrier. We have been assembled and crafted by the hands of the Great Creator to be carriers of His light. There is darkness that has fallen in the world all around us and He has made us to be the ones to show the reality of a light filled life in Him. Our placement has been a high place where we'll always be noticed and effective. The only part we have to play is in the determination of this light's covering. As we walk in the Light, we are able to live righteously and our covering is a very transparent and revealing. We are able to live confidently with our house open to all for them to observe our lives without fear of visibility in any corner. When there is a choice or an action, however, that welcomes the darkness, it's as if a blanket is lowered down over our light, obstructing any of its rays. Though our purpose is great and our influence essential for the entrance of light into others, we may, through pride and self-seeking ways, disable our intended function. However, there will never be a loss of potential that is ours as carriers of the Light. The slightest submission to righteousness makes transparent our covering, and there is hope again for our surrounding world to see and be drawn to Him. As our every thought, meditation and action reflects a heart that is one with the Father, He is made to shine brightly, with no obstructions. "Let your Light so shine" 5/7/04
