Hidden Things Deu 29:2 Moses called all Israel together and said, You've seen with your own eyes everything that GOD did in Egypt to Pharaoh and his servants, and to the land itself-- Deu 29:3 the massive trials to which you were eyewitnesses, the great signs and miracle- wonders. Deu 29:4 But GOD didn't give you an understanding heart or perceptive eyes or attentive ears until right now, this very day. Deu 29:29 GOD, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. This matter of time in revelation and the things of God is a major factor. We might have experienced things that we would think should qualify us to be spiritually understanding individuals, and yet, the observation of miracles and great acts of God apparently does nothing to accomplish the thing that only God can accomplish- the giving of an understanding heart and perceptive eyes and attentive ears. God is in possession of an infinite amount of things that are great and mighty, but are hidden. In fact, there are surely way more things that are hidden than things that are revealed. It is not our duty or responsibility to attempt the understanding of the things for which He has yet to give us understanding. Our duty is to be responsible for those things He's already given and the revelation that has already been received. In being faithful to what He's already given, there will be a readiness acquired for any other impartation He might desire to give in the future. The pursuit of those unknowns, though, and the attempts to figure them out and obtain them is what will lead to frustrations, doubt, wrong decisions, and major detours from the direct path to His will. The only pursuit that is without failure is the pursuit of His presence and obedience to what has already been made known. In this place of peace at His side, with continual exposure to His Word on the inside, and by the grace that He imparts, there will be sufficient understanding for every moment and every situation. Let my eyes and my heart be steadfast on Him continually with no frustrations about what is still veiled from view. The view He has already given right here is great. Why bother with something that He has yet to make visible? 7/22/05
