He Watches Over Exo 12:42 GOD kept watch all night, watching over the Israelites as he brought them out of Egypt. Because GOD kept watch, all Israel for all generations will honor GOD by keeping watch this night--a watchnight. Exo 12:51 That very day GOD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt, tribe by tribe. Sometimes, maybe because we are involved and working diligently during the time of deliverance, there may be an appearance that this change is taking place due to our efforts. The exodus from Egypt must have been a very strenuous time with a great deal of activity as all the people mobilized to leave the country. There was so much that each person had to do in order to prepare for and to actually execute their departure. While we may be directly involved and a part of the physical changes that are taking place in our own departures, it should never be misconstrued to be that any of these changes come because of our efforts alone. Each and every element of the change comes at the direction and oversight of the Almighty. Great comfort and encouragement may be found in the awareness that at every juncture in our progress, there is the Master Creator watching over us and insuring our safety and protection. In acquiring deliverance from strongholds in our life it may require great effort on our part as we begin to allow righteousness to dominate and motivate to diligence and hard work that are necessary for change. God didn't just reach down and translate the Israelites and all their necessary possessions. He didn't just grab them and all their stuff and plop them down in the promised land. While it was His deliverance and His design, it required their participation at every turn. For a departure from sin and bad habits in our life it will require diligence in acquiring and applying the Word of God on a continual basis until the complete departure is made. Our thoughts and our desires will be transformed as great effort is exerted to pursue the thoughts and desires of God. For departure from a bondage of lack and poverty, there will be a requirement of a completely different approach to life, not just a magic dumping of treasures from heaven. God's way to prosperity will require our effort at every point. It will be the hand of the diligent that will reap the fruit and, initially it may take a great deal of effort in learning to give when there doesn't appear to be enough left to give. For departure from relationships and situations that are unhealthy or destructive it will definitely require effort in making tough decisions and then applying much physical effort in executing the material changes that are necessary. In every area where deliverance is taking place, however, we can know that God is the designer and orchestrator of its final end and that as we move, He is given something to watch over and bless. He most often will not just force blessing and freedom upon us, but is requiring us to do our part. Each movement, then, and each function performed in obedience to His direction becomes a form of worship as He is given something to watch over and bless. 2/12/04
