Full Psa 34:10 Young lions on the prowl get hungry, but GOD-seekers are full of God. (Message) Not getting to eat what you've been anticipating has got to be one of the notably significant letdowns. The plans had been made weeks ago to meet up with friends at a favorite restaurant for an enjoyable evening of fellowship over an excellent meal. Other eating throughout the day had been kept to a minimum so that there would be plenty of room and appetite to fully savor the entree of choice. Everything was going great, meeting the friends and making the drive to the remote area of the restaurant. Salivary glands were already preparing for the reception of the tasty morsels, and the stomach was beginning to make its own comments on how it couldn't wait to finally get filled up with the awesome food. Just as the last turn was made, though, and the restaurant came into view, it was clear that things might not be continuing as planned. Whereas normally there would have been a large group of people waiting outside, there were very few people to be seen, and they were all making their way back to their cars. Fading hopes still insisting on finding out what was going on only learned that, for some undisclosed reason, the restaurant would not be open this evening. All of the mental and physical preparation for the fulfillment that would require the inclusion of this meal was all in vein. Although there might be some other place that could be found where a meal could be eaten and conversations held, it could never fully satisfy what had been so greatly anticipated. - What a letdown. Now, an alteration to this scenario might make the disappointment even greater. After making it to the open restaurant and getting seated by the fountain with the classical guitar playing softly in the background, the long awaited entree was nothing like what you had anticipated. Instead of satisfying the longings of the palate, it actually tasted horrible and one bite was enough to require a trip to emergency, bringing an end to the evening altogether. The meal was not only completely opposite of what had been envisioned, it was damaging to all that had been planned, totally destroying the evening. -Even bigger letdown. While these letdowns may not ever be experienced and though they may not be the norm, they do represent a reality that is demonstrated in so many other areas of life- relationships, careers, dreams, and endeavors. In fact, to some extent they represent the reality of any life experience that is separated from the presence of God. The thing that has been greatly anticipated and longed for just may not even be available after all our preparation. Then, it may end up being completely different than what we had envisioned, bringing bitterness and destruction into our lives. Whether severe or less obvious, without God there will always be a let down of some kind, where expectations are not fully satisfied and there is prowling for something more. It is even possible to complete a life where everything that is planned is actually lived, and still walk out of the restaurant of life unfulfilled and let down. There is, though, a place that is never closed and is always serving the best, and there's never a waiting line. There is never an unfulfilled departure from this place, as way more than could ever have been envisioned is both met and exceeded. In fact, when it is sought out and found, all other places become insignificant in comparison. As there is a tasting of the goodness and the atmosphere of this place, there is a fulfillment that excludes the need for any other. Satisfied and content with all that is received there, it is possible to go through any duration of difficulty with the assurance that this place of fulfillment is there to always be found and experienced. There will never be a disappointment or let down when it is the object of preparation and pursuit. There will only be a deeper discovery of even more precious moments of joy and peace there. This place in His presence is fulfillment beyond the greatest hopes, and, at the departure from the restaurant of life there will never be a let down or wondering if there could have been more, it was found and satisfied fully in Him. Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Isa 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
