Flooding Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. The task was really a very simple one, even though the sun had set, and it was a night with no moon. He had been told to go towards the light of the tower on the far end of the town. Waiting there for him would be the payment or reward for the work that had taken him years to complete. Even though the single road leading to it winded a bit, there would be no problem whatsoever if the tower's light were just kept in sight. As he might need to rest for a while along the way, when he was ready to go again, the sight of the light would give direction to his steps. The only difficulty would be if somehow, as the road passed through the various parts of the city, one of the many possible diversions were heeded for even a short while. Any of the alternate paths along the way would not only delay any progress towards his reward, but they would actually lead him to where the tower was no longer visible. On some of the roads, there were other lighted towers that would come into sight, looking similar to the original one of his destination, but leading to a meaningless place of no purpose. Any diversion from the path of his direction would lead to great confusion, as the sight of the other lights began to skew the clarity of the treasure's light. We have been given an equally simple task. Just keep to the road of righteousness by focusing only on the Light. An incredible reward awaits us there as we discover the wonderful treasure of a fulfilled life in Christ. As other possibilities come into view along the way, and there is a temptation to take a side journey, the sight of the Savior's light will alone maintain progress towards that higher purpose. As a side path may be stepped onto for a brief moment, the difficulty will be that other "lights" will obscure the clarity of our true Light. Following any of these other "lights" will only lead to a deeper darkness, disabling the strength and power of our true Light. While there awaits for us this completed race of purpose, at each step towards it, this guiding Light will bring more than just direction as it actually fills our whole being with its purity and holiness. As long as our focus is on Him there is an immediate flooding of Light into every fiber of our body, empowering us to shine with this same Light, bringing the power of its vision to all we encounter. This is the true purpose in the Light that goes way beyond personal consumption of material objects. Far greater than these is the transformation that takes place in those who experience the Light that is seen in us. For this day, I will be looking only there Only there at this Light that floods my soul And my foot will be kept upon its righteous road My thoughts will remain on purity As my eyes are kept from ever wandering From the shining of the Light that sets me free 5/24/05
