Coverage Psa 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? But didn't that man say everything would be covered? We had sat right there in his office and what I understood him to say was that I would be safe against any major thing that might go wrong. I had agreed to the price of the coverage, signed the paper, and had left the place with this feeling of confidence. I felt that I had made a choice that would protect me and my family from a potential financial burden. Because of this paper I had just bought, we would most certainly be safe. So, why was I hearing this story now? After seeing the warning light, I had gone to the local service center, confidently grasping this piece of paper with my guarantee of greatly reduced cost. According to what they were describing as the problem and the price involved, this should definitely qualify as a major component. What I was hearing, though, was that this particular item was special, in that it was conveniently left out of the covered parts. Somewhere nestled in the paragraphs of details on the paper I was holding was indeed a stipulation regarding the special status of this particular failing part. I would just have to accept the reality of it and pay full price for the repairs or just not have them done at all. Okay, so I should have read the contract completely and not even expected anything beyond what it really covered. Maybe I shouldn't have purchased that particular coverage at all in the first place. There were definitely some things for me to learn from and take to my next transaction. All of this being true, there was yet this additional blow made to confidence in whatever might be presented as a great thing. It's like everything having to do with quality assurance and guarantee has this lengthy lawyerese text that must be read and retained in order to fully comprehend and make the right choice. The fear of what might really happen in some unforeseen circumstance can overwhelm to the point of indecision and reclusion. It would be so very nice if there could just be this all-encompassing phrase stating complete coverage with no stipulations whatsoever. You wouldn't have to know all the smallest details in order to utilize it either. The tiniest thing wears out or breaks and it is replaced or repaired. Instead of being overwhelmed by fear of what might come along to defeat and destroy, there could be great confidence in the words of that phrase stating that everything would be taken care of, no charge. Though there will always be exception-laden promises that could potentially cause increasing skepticism, I'm so glad for Psalm 27, where the relationship we can have with our Father is portrayed. There has been nothing left out of what will be taken care of in Him. He is our light, salvation and strength. Nothing and no one is an exception to this. No unforeseen circumstance or problem will ever be the one for which or Father has no coverage. This covenant with our Father will never be met with a legitimate explanation of how He will just not be able to cover this thing. He is and will be faithful to the end of the earth and all time. The only stipulation that would ever disqualify us for ultimate coverage in Christ will be the decision to live outside of His favor. By deciding to not let Him be a part of everything in our lives, there is an exception created that will render us defenseless. And, there is provision made for the debilitating fear of uncertainty. By choosing to live a worship life, though, there is an assurance that He will cover absolutely every need in our lives. Where once we might have been skeptical and fearful about every little thing, there now is a calm spirit of love from our Father that covers us completely and dispels any fears. If ever we are being told about an exception to His promise we can know for certain that it is not true. If ever there is a circumstance or challenge for which we had no foreknowledge, instead of being gripped by fear once more, we can boldly live in the true confidence of full coverage and provision. The exception speech will never come from Him, only words of affirmation and assurance that our lives are quite safe in Him. Heb 13:5 Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, "I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you," Heb 13:6 we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I'm fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me? 5/24/04
